Dear players, welcome to Round 8 of Hurt/Comfort Bingo!

If you're a returning player, thanks for staying and having fun with us! We'll do our best to bring you more enjoyment. And if you're just joining us, welcome! We're happy to see new faces and can't wait to welcome you to our community. Last round brought forth a lot of wonderful fanworks, and great discussions. We hope that this one will do the same!

Once again, there are not too many changes this year: we have updated the prompt list a bit - thank you for your feedback! - and we're starting Motivation Posts soon, as they were a popular feature last year.

Now, onwards! You're welcome to start signing up for the cards. Please read Rules, FAQ and Bingos, Extras and Achievement posts first.

There's no penalty for not posting anything in Round Seven. Round Eight is open for everybody.

Leave a comment to this post under the name you wish to post as to get you bingo card and a code to post it to your journal. Due to the possible triggering nature of the prompts themselves, the card code already contains the lj-cut code; you can change the cut text to suit you.

If you want your card with the white background, remove background="LINK"and font color="#ffffff" from your code.

To strike out a square find the square name in the code you've been given and make it look like this: <*a href="LINK TO YOUR STORY"><*s>SQUARE NAME<*/s><*/a> (without the asterisks).

To have your card display properly, you need to copy/paste its code directly from the comment itself, and not from your e-mail. Use the HTML editor when posting.

If you have any problems with your code, please send a message to [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo_mod and we’ll try to help you out.

Important: Some hurt/comfort prompts can be potentially triggering. Please read through the list of prompts before requesting a card. You can veto up to three prompts that would be triggery/uncomfortable for you to write about. Additionally, you can ask for a sex-free card - this will leave off all prompts that deal with questions of consent or sexual contact. If you need more than three prompts veto'd, please contact the mods by PM or e-mail and we will work with you to make sure you have a suitable card.

Remember, you can sign up here or on dreamwidth, but not at the both places at once, since both communities mirror each other.

Here's our official Tumblr announcement; if you'd like to help us spread the world, we'd appreciate a reblog.

For the card backgrounds backgrounds a pattern by southpaws & a pattern by albenaj were used.

Posting

Once you have completed a bingo you must post it to the community to receive the banner and qualify for achievements. Please do not post links to single fills to the community unless it’s amnesty period or you’re submitting an extra.

You should post to the community you've signed up to, i.e. only to either livejournal or dreamwidth, not both at once.

Please tag your post with already created tags (amnesty, amnesty challenge, bingo, extra, fandom, prompt, medium, round) and mods will create other tags as needed. You do not need to ask mods to create tags for you in your post.

[livejournal.com profile] deinonychus_1 is kindly helping us to manage tags this round!

Please note: we’ve hit tags limit in the previous round and had to demolish player tags to make some free space. To look up all the posts made to the community by you or some other player, add "?poster=USERNAME" to http://hc_bingo.livejournal.com. For example, to look up all the posts made by [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo_mod, you need to go to the page http://hc_bingo.livejournal.com?poster=hc_bingo_mod.

Post Warnings )

Posting Template )

Your post should contain links to the individual fills. We do not host any fills on the comm.

There's an official AO3 collection for this round - you're welcome and encouraged to add your fills to it, but it's not mandatory.

Some hurt/comfort prompts can be potentially triggering. Please look over this list before signing up. You may veto from one to three prompts that would be triggery/uncomfortable for you to write about.

Additionally, you can request your card to be sex-free - avoiding any prompts to do with sex-related trauma.

If you need more than three prompts vetoed, please contact the mods by PM or email and we will work with you to make sure you have a suitable card.

First of all announcement: thanks to bringing to our attention that there might be a possibility of LJ suspending journals that link to sites outside of LJ. It's hard to say at this point whether is that a valid concern or not, but in any case there's a DW backup comm at [community profile] hc_bingo_lj_backup that gets refreshed periodically. Whatever happens, we're not going to lose all the accumulated entries, and so business over the LJ side of the comm proceeds as normal.

Everybody who feels uncomfortable staying on LJ is absolutely welcome to switch over to the DW mirror at [community profile] hc_bingo at any convenient moment without losing their achievements or user history. Just drop us a note if your username on DW differs and you're aiming for any of the Amnesty achievements in Round Eight.

With this settled, let us proceed to the feedback post! The amnesty period is going to end soon, and we're gearing up for Round Eight. In this post, please tell us your ideas! Are there any cool new prompts you'd like us to add? Anything from this round that you'd like to remove? How are the Achievements working for you? How do you feel about the comm in general? If you're a new player, how was your experience? If you've been with us for a while, are you still having fun?

Any feedback is appreciated! And as always, thank you for staying with us and for your commitment to the hurt/comfort motion. It's been a long long ride, and we're happy to continue to share it with you.

Anon commenting is on, please be nice to each other.

Best wishes,

April challenge is over! Thanks to everybody for playing!

Don't forget that amnesty period is still going on, and you can (and should) post everything you've made for hc_bingo but haven't posted yet during it.

And so we're moving on the last spring challenge of Round 7 - May challenge!

If you comment on this post, you get a set of four randomly chosen prompts. You then complete and submit one fill written for a rare/small fandom. You can choose one prompt or combine two, three or all four out of your stamp.

Rules:

- For the purpose of this challenge rare/small fandom means a fandom with roughly less than 400 fics, as determined by checking AO3, FF.net, the main livejournal comms for the fandom and quick googling. The criteria is, obviously, approximate; our purpose is to encourage players to turn to less written-in fandoms rather than to be really specific about defining the size of the fandom. To avoid confusion it's obligatory to run your fandom by the mods for the final say on whether it's eligible or not, before submitting. Please PM or e-mail us beforehand.

- Installments in series (of books, movies, games and so on) count as separate fandoms if they have completely different characters.

- Different media versions of the same canon (i.e., book! and movie!verses and so on) count as the same fandom if they have the same set of characters.

- Crossovers between two or more eligible fandoms are allowed; crossover between eligible and inelegible fandoms are not.

- The deadline for posting your completed fill is June 5th. As long as your submission is in the posting queue while it's June 5th anywhere in the world, you've finished on time. There are no penalties for defaulting: if you didn't finish your fill on time, it can still be posted during the amnesty period, but it won't bring you points.

- The prize for finishing and submitting your story in time is a banner and an achievement in the next round. You can sign up to play even if you didn't participate in Round 7 and/or don't plan to participate in Round 8.

- If you're uncomfortable with writing about sexual trauma and/or abuse based situations, please note that when you sign up so we can give you a prompts set avoiding these areas altogether. Additionally, you can look at the list of prompts before signing up and veto from one to three prompts that would be triggery/uncomfortable for you to write about. If you need more than three prompts vetoed, please contact the [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo_mod by PM or e-mail and we will do our best to work with you.

- The warning policy is the same: even if it is in the prompt, you are still required to warn for rape/non-con, dub-con, incest, character death/suicide, graphic self-harm, any type of sexual trauma, any type of child/domestic abuse and other triggering themes or images. The other warnings are left to your discretion, though we encourage you to warn as fully as possible. When in doubt, please err on the side of caution. If you don't want to warn for something to avoid spoiling the readers, please use greyed-out warnings.

Please also check the rules and FAQ for general rules and requirements.

Dear bingo enthusiasts, it is our pleasure to announce the beginning of Amnesty Mini-Challenges! A noble part of the h/c bingo tradition. We'll be doing four challenges: February, March, April and May. We hope you can join in, and have fun!

The rules for February: if you comment on this post, you get a postage stamp: a 2x2 grid of randomly chosen prompts (for the purposes of this challenge, one of the prompts is always a Wild Card). You then complete and submit one fill that combines all four prompts.

Rules:

- The deadline for posting your completed fill is March 5th. As long as your submission is in the posting queue while it's March 2nd anywhere in the world, you've finished on time. There are no penalties for defaulting: if you didn't finish your fill on time, it can still be posted during the amnesty period, but it won't bring you the banner and the achievement in the next round.

- The prize for finishing and submitting your story in time is a special achievement for Round 8 and a banner. You can sign up to play even if you didn't participate in Round 7 and/or don't plan to participate in Round 8.

- If you're uncomfortable with writing about sexual trauma and/or abuse based situations, please note that when you sign up so we can give you a postage stamp avoiding these areas altogether.

- If you received your postage stamp grid and you're absolutely sure you won't be able to work with it, you can request a new postage stamp once during the 24 hours after the original request by commenting in the same thread.

- The warning policy is the same: even if it is in the prompt, you are still required to warn for rape/non-con, dub-con, incest, character death/suicide, graphic self-harm, any type of sexual trauma, any type of child/domestic abuse and any other triggering themes or images. The other warnings are left to your discretion, though we encourage you to warn as fully as possible. When in doubt, please err on the side of caution. If you don't want to warn for something to avoid spoiling the readers, please use greyed-out warnings.

- Remember that all prompts in your stamp don't have to be applied to one character.

Please also check the rules and FAQ for general rules and requirements.

Thank you so much for playing with us! We hope you enjoyed this round as much as we did. We got to see some truly amazing fanworks, in a variety of fandoms and genres. It is a delight and a privilege to be in this with you all - creators, lurkers and commenters.

Here's to another great year together, and even more delicious hurt/comfort. ♥
[identity profile] hc-bingo-mod.livejournal.com
And we're done! Thanks to all our wonderful players for their zest and dedication.

We will announce this year's Achievements, and hand out banners, sometime in the period of 10th-15th January.

AMNESTY BEGINS NOW.

Reminder:
- Amnesty is for sharing any of the works you wrote for round 7 but have not posted yet OR for any new works you write, inspired by the prompts you received in round 7.
- You don't need to have scored a Bingo in round 7 to qualify for Amnesty.
- No new cards will be issued, except for Mini-Challenges.
- Mini-Challenges run from February to May, and each month has a unique theme!
- You can post (links to) any number of fanworks during Amnesty, you no longer need to have a full Bingo.
- The format for Amnesty posts is the same as for bingo posts, with one alteration - the subject line must look like this:
AMNESTY: [number and type of fills posted] (ex. AMNESTY: 2 Vids, 1 fic, etc).

Dearest players, it's our seventh year running, and we're still going strong, thanks to you. Let's have a wonderful Round 8 this summer!
