May Mini-Challenge is now closed! You gave us many new small fandoms and truly awesome fanworks.

More generally, the Round 3 Amnesty Period is now closed.

Thank you to everyone for participating. Creators, readers and reviewers, you are all delightful, and thanks for keeping this community going.

Round 4 four begins around 10th June - stay tuned! Remember, we're having a change of rules, and we eagerly await all your feedback about it here.
[identity profile] hc-bingo-mod.livejournal.com
So May has come, and it's also time for a feedback post! But please pay attention, because we have a proposition for you.

We had a very beautiful run with three rounds of [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo so far, and we feel it's time to change things around a little. We propose making the following changes to the system:

1) No more points.

2) Every type of bingo gets a separate banner.

3) At the end of the round the achievement banners (and possibly small prizes) are given. Examples of achievements: gathering all types of bingo/extra on the same card, longest wordcount, highest number of fandoms used in one card, all types of fills used in one card, completed all amnesty challenges, etc., etc. We're still gathering ideas for achievements; you're very welcome to suggest yours in the comments.

4) Please note that the achievements will be reached within one bingo card (for example, say you're aiming for the highest wordcount achievement. You've got a total of 90k words on one card and 5k words on the other. The wordcount that counts for the achievement will be 90k, not 90+5k).

5) We will try to make all achievements quantifiable and objective.

6) You can qualify for several achievements at once.

This is a very rough outline of the new system; we're going to expand and polish it as we go. Please help us with your suggestions and ideas!

You can also fill out a very short reaction poll.

Besides that, let us also collect the usual feedback for Round 3:

Prompts:
Are there prompts you'd like to see added to the list? Prompts you'd like to see combined or removed? Prompts you think may need to be reworded? Etc. Please let us know why you think so.

General Feedback:
Commentary on Round Three and any suggestions that are not covered above.

POST RULES

1. This post will be open until May 20th, to allow us time to consider all suggestions and possible changes before Round Four.

2. Post your comment under the appropriately titled thread. This makes our tracking and organisation easier.

3. Be respectful of all posters (and lurkers).

4. Anonymous commenting is on. (We will screen and turn off anon-commenting if comments become personal or disrespectful)

5. Remember that, although we will be reading and very seriously considering all suggestions, this is not a guarantee that your suggestion will be implemented.

Round Three prompts can be found here.

NOTE: Some prompts deal with sensitive issues and may be triggering.

Mods will not be responding to suggestions, or participating in any ensuing discussions, however we are watching all comments.

If you would prefer to discuss anything privately please feel free to e-mail the mods or PM [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo_mod.

April challenge is closed! Thanks to all players for being awesome and prolific.

Don't forget that amnesty period is still going on, and you can (and should) post everything you've made for hc_bingo but haven't posted yet during it.

And so we're moving on the last challenge of Round 3 - May challenge!

If you comment on this post, you get a set of four randomly chosen prompts. You then complete and submit one fill written for a rare/small fandom. You can choose one prompt or combine two, three or all four out of your stamp.

Rules:

- For the purpose of this challenge rare/small fandom means a fandom with roughly less than 400 fics, as determined by checking AO3, FF.net, the main livejournal comms for the fandom and quick googling. The criteria is, obviously, approximate; our purpose is to encourage players to turn to less written-in fandoms rather than to be really specific about defining the size of the fandom. That's why this year it's obligatory to run your fandom by the mods for the final say on whether it's eligible or not, before submitting. Please PM or e-mail us beforehand.

- Installments in series (of books, movies, games and so on) count as separate fandoms if they have completely different characters.

- Different media versions of the same canon (i.e., book! and movie!verses and so on) count as the same fandom if they have the same set of characters.

- Crossovers between two or more eligible fandoms are allowed; crossover between elegible and inelegible fandoms are not.

- The deadline for posting your completed fill is May 31st. As long as your submission is in the posting queue while it's May 31st anywhere in the world, you've finished on time. There are no penalties for defaulting: if you didn't finish your fill on time, it can still be posted during the amnesty period, but it won't bring you points.

- The prize for finishing and submitting your story in time is 15 points towards Round 4 and a banner. You can sign up to play even if you didn't participate in Round 2 and/or don't plan to participate in Round 3.

- If you're uncomfortable with writing about sexual trauma and/or abuse based situations, please note that when you sign up so we can give you a prompts set avoiding these areas altogether. Additionally, you can look at the list of prompts before signing up and veto from one to three prompts that would be triggery/uncomfortable for you to write about. If you need more than three prompts vetoed, please contact the [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo_mod by PM or e-mail and we will do our best to work with you.

- The warning policy is the same: even if it is in the prompt, you are still required to warn for rape/non-con, dub-con, incest, character death/suicide, graphic self-harm, any type of sexual trauma, any type of child/domestic abuse and other triggering themes or images. The other warnings are left to your discretion, though we encourage you to warn as fully as possible. When in doubt, please err on the side of caution. If you don't want to warn for something to avoid spoiling the readers, please use greyed-out warnings.

Please also check the rules and FAQ for general rules and requirements.

Thanks everybody for playing in February Amnesty Challenge! It's now closed, and you're all officially amazing. Let us move on to March!

For March we're trying something different this year: if you comment on this post, you get a strip of three randomly chosen prompts. You then complete and submit a reclist of fifteen works (stories, meta, art, vids, etc.) corresponding to these prompts. You can use one, two, or all three prompts for your reclist, as long as you have fifteen recs overall. To qualify for the challenge every recommendation on your list must have an explanation of how it pertains to the prompt and why you like it and want to rec it.

Rules:

- The deadline for posting your completed list is March 31st. As long as your submission is in the posting queue while it's March 31st anywhere in the world, you've finished on time (we'll make a countdown closer to the end of challenge). There are no penalties for defaulting: if you didn't finish your list on time, it can still be posted during the amnesty period, but it won't bring you points.

- The prize for finishing and submitting your reclist in time is 15 points towards Round 4 and a banner. You can sign up to play even if you didn't participate in Round 3 and/or don't plan to participate in Round 4.

- If you're uncomfortable with reccing anything pertaining to sexual trauma and/or abuse based situations, please note that when you sign up so we can give you a strip avoiding these areas altogether. Additionally, you can look at the list of prompts before signing up and veto from one to three prompts that would be triggery/uncomfortable for you to rec. If you need more than three prompts vetoed, please contact the [livejournal.com profile] hc_bingo_mod by PM or e-mail and we will do our best to work with you.

- If you received your strip and you're absolutely sure you won't be able to work with it, you can request a new one once during the 24 hours after the original request by commenting in the same thread.

- Please link to headers/masterposts containing author's warnings, if there're any.

Please also check the rules and FAQ for general rules and requirements.

The time for the amnesty challenges is upon us again! This round we're running four challenges again, for February, March, April and May. If you're bored during amnesty round, come and play with us!

So, for February: if you comment on this post, you get a postage stamp: a 2x2 grid of randomly chosen prompts (for the purposes of this challenge, one of the prompts is always a Wild Card). You then complete and submit one fill that combines all four prompts.

Rules:

- The deadline for posting your completed fill is February 28th. As long as your submission is in the posting queue while it's February 28th anywhere in the world, you've finished on time. There are no penalties for defaulting: if you didn't finish your fill on time, it can still be posted during the amnesty period, but it won't bring you points.

- The prize for finishing and submitting your story in time is 15 points towards Round 4 and a banner. You can sign up to play even if you didn't participate in Round 3 and/or don't plan to participate in Round 4.

- If you're uncomfortable with writing about sexual trauma and/or abuse based situations, please note that when you sign up so we can give you a postage stamp avoiding these areas altogether.

- If you received your postage stamp grid and you're absolutely sure you won't be able to work with it, you can request a new postage stamp once during the 24 hours after the original request by commenting in the same thread.

- The warning policy is the same: even if it is in the prompt, you are still required to warn for rape/non-con, dub-con, incest, character death/suicide, graphic self-harm, any type of sexual trauma, any type of child/domestic abuse and any other triggering themes or images. The other warnings are left to your discretion, though we encourage you to warn as fully as possible. When in doubt, please err on the side of caution. If you don't want to warn for something to avoid spoiling the readers, please use greyed-out warnings.

- Remember that all prompts in your stamp don't have to be applied to one character.

Please also check the rules and FAQ for general rules and requirements.

ROUND 3 IS CLOSED

Thanks for playing with us, everybody! You're wonderful and we love you.

The preliminary timeline:

Declaring 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners: January 5th, 2013
Handing out all prizes: January 15th, 2013

(Please note that to our great regret our amazing mods [livejournal.com profile] delphinapterus, [livejournal.com profile] mizubyte and [livejournal.com profile] sailorstkwrning had to step down due to IRL pressures, so there will be no Mod's Choice nomination this year).

IMPORTANT: People who submitted a bingo before the deadline and got rejected for incorrect formatting or wrong warnings, you can re-submit the corrected version during following 24 hours and still get it accepted. Please use this opportunity, we don't want to lose anybody's efforts! Here's a countdown for until this window closes.
